Assessment Services

Our Approach

Understanding the nature of cognitive, behavioral, and other mental health concerns is of vital importance in developing a path toward healing. At Tula IHS, we provide comprehensive evaluations to help identify and understand what may be at the root of your primary concerns. Our evaluations are designed to assess a broad range of symptoms in order to provide precise and accurate diagnostic picture. In addition, your case will be overseen by two licensed psychologists, Dr. Keegan S. Walker and Dr. Rachel Gall from our partner practice Greenlake Psychology.

Our comprehensive assessments are designed to evaluate a wide variety of symptoms that may be associated with neurodevelopmental (including ADHD and autism), neurocognitive, mood, anxiety, learning, and other diagnoses. Instead of assessing for specific diagnoses, we take a holistic approach in determining what diagnoses best explain the specific challenges you are dealing with. We use only the most up-to-date, research-supported diagnostic tools and assessment materials to evaluate cognitive functioning, academic performance, social functioning, behavioral concerns, and psychiatric symptoms. Furthermore, your assessment will be tailored to your unique circumstances and the concerns that you are facing. By using this approach, we ensure that as many factors as possible are investigated and all relevant diagnoses are considered.

Following the evaluation, we do not simply give you a report and send you on your way. We will take the time to explain the results, clarify any questions you may have, provide recommendations tailored to your specific circumstances, provide documentation to share with other providers, and offer options for follow-up with us after the assessment is complete.

At Tula IHS, we hold comprehensive care as one of our highest values. A common misconception about mental health diagnoses is that they are definitive and final. Human behavior and thinking are some of the most complicated phenomena we study in the world. We want to ensure that we treat you as a human, consider all the unique facets of your life, and provide clarity, insight, and, most importantly, hope in helping you find your way.

Developmental Assessment

Our comprehensive assessment combines the academic and diagnostic assessments to determine and differentiate the possible causes for psychological and/or learning difficulties. This assessment utilizes the same established tools and testing methods, but provides a more dynamic picture of what may be contributing to you or your child’s specific difficulties. By combining the two areas, we will be able to more precisely determine the degree to which mental health or academic problems are contributing to the symptoms present. Understanding the relationship between the various areas that may be affected by learning difficulties and psychological diagnoses can support you or you child in flourishing in the future.

When students have difficulties in school, it can be extremely helpful to determine what may be creating challenges for them. Our academic assessment includes testing cognitive functioning and academic skills as it relates to specific domains of learning. Furthermore, we will provide recommendations for individuals, parents, educators, and academic support staff to help students maximize their strengths and optimize their academic abilities. Please note, this assessment is designed to assess only academic performance.
